JEREMY FLORES KEEPS UP THE GOOD WORK ON TOUR !
Mini intervista al N° 9 del Foster’s ASP World Tour nonchè il più giovane atleta ed unico europeo al world tour!
Mini-interview of current Foster’s ASP World Tour #9, youngest surfer and only European on tour!
After breaking all records when he became the youngest surfer ever to qualify for the Foster’s ASP World Tour, Jérémy Flores (Fra) continues his path amongst surfing’s elite. After a convincing 17th place in the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast in March, an early loss in the Rip Curl Pro Bell’s beach Classic a month later, the young star arrived in Tahiti for the Billabong Pro with the same frame of mind : to enjoy and get on with his experience of the world tour. And it paid off. Reaching the quarterfinals after beating the best surfer of all times Kelly Slater (Usa), Jérémy sits in 9th position on the current ratings and seems to be getting used to this Dream Tour in the ideal way.
Age : 19 years old

1. After three events on the Foster’s ASP World Tour, do you feel like your integration is a success?
Yes, I am definitly happy with the way things are going for me. And actually, with the last results, it is still improving, but the guys have been nice to me, and it’s very positive for a start amongst the best surfers of the planet.
2. How do the experienced guys on tour see you?
All of them are really relaxed beacuse of their experience. Off course they can be a bit on their guard at some moments, but this is competition. When it comes to this, it is not an easy part to be the youngest surfer on tour, and the only european as well. It is important to be really strong mentally.
3. Did you have a particular training before the Billabong Pro Tahiti? What about beating the King Kelly Slater?
Nothing specific... I just did as for all the other events. My only fear was not to have the best boards with me, as the conditions can so tough out there. But it ended very well for me! It was a dream to take over Kelly Slater, and especially as he got me a few times in the past and precisely in France, it was kind of revenge.
But it was a big relief to get this win, and to do it in Tahiti was even more special!
4. The next stops of the Foster’s ASP World Tour will be crucial for the ratings? Any pressure?
Not at all. Some of the guys can increase their lead at the very next events, but I have no specific goal or target. I am on tour to learn as much as I can, focus and enjoy. Because the next step, in a few years time, will be a title off course... But none of this affects my surfing today, and it’s all good.
5. Will you be in Europe for the main WQS events this summer?
Yes I will... It’s really important for me to go and push the rest of the Euroforce contingent. I’d love to see others get on the World Tour and see Europe take more and more spots of the elite circuit.
